Encouraging results from the 2011 field activities in
Mauken Greenstone Belt Gold Project
Northern Highlands ApS is pleased to report initial results from
large soil sample campaign at Mauken Greenstone Belt Gold Project,
Norway.
More than 10,000 soil samples have been collected from the
license property. The sampling program not only delineates the
known gold-arsenic mineralisation but also defines three new
arsenic-rich geochemical anomalies, all of a significant size.
Northern Highlands ApS's exploration activities in the Mauken
greenstone belt commenced in early June and are still proceeding.
The main focus of this year exploration program was to delineate
the large structural controlled gold mineralized system and locate
high grade mineralization's (see news release dated June 6, 2011).
All 10,000 soil samples have been analyzed with a hand-held XRF
(Innov-X systems) and subsequently a large number of soil samples
have been analyzed by ICP at ALS Chemex, Sweden.
- Currently peak soil sample ICP values is: 0.416 g/t gold; 0.3%
copper; 82 g/t arsenic.
- High arsenic values corrolates with extensive hyrdothermal
alteration.
The survey design (N-S, E-W orientated lines with 250 meter line
spacing, soil sample every 20 meter) has produced a coherent
geochemical map, where three new areas show pronounced and
consistent arsenic values in the soil.
Søren Lund Jensen (CEO) comments: "The amount of high
arsenic values in the soil samples by far exceeds our expectations.
High arsenic values are found not only in the Main Zone where we
know there is strong correlation with gold, but in three larger
areas. We are highly motivated by these results and will now also
focus on these newly defined target areas".
Northern Highlands has expanded its license holding in the
Mauken area as consequence of the positive results.
