New promising gold mineralised target revealed by soil
sampling in Mauken greenstone belt.
Soil samples taken in early May 2011 has confirmed the results
of a soil sample taken in the 2010 field season. The initial sample
showed anomalies in the very high ranges, and has been confirmed by
the soil samples taken in 2011.
The samples collected on the target area have been analysed with
hand-held XRF in both instances, and the 2010 sample was
subsequently sent to ALS Chemex for reanalysing using an ICP-MS
analysis. The ICP-MS analysis confirmed the XRF results, returning
even higher values, which has prompted a sampling program in May
2011 to grid the anomaly area before the 2011 field season sets
off.
Sample results:
2010:
The XRF showed Cu: 1413 ppm., As: 109 ppm., which the ICP-MS
analysis confirmed with values showing Cu: 0.23%, As: 166 ppm. and
Au: 0.124 ppm.
2011:
XRF results returned values of Cu: 3844 ppm., As: 41 ppm. and in
the near vicinity Cu: 2042 ppm., As: 139 ppm. The samples were sent
to ICP-MS analysis to confirm these new results and returned highly
anomalous values on gold, silver and copper. The best sample
showing values of Cu: 0.42%, As: 115 ppm., Ag: 7.7 ppm. Au: 0.21
ppm.
