New target areas identified by a soil sample
campaign
Scandinavian Highlands has completed a soil sample program with
great success. The widespread soil sampling program consists
of more than 20 SW-NE sample lines at the Mauken greenstone belt
licence area. More than 1200 soil samples were collected in
profiles ranging from a few hundred meters to several kilometers in
length designed to lie perpendicular on the general strike of the
geology. The samples were taken with a spacing of 5, 10 or 20
meters. All samples have subsequently been analyzed with a handheld
XFR system (Innov-X). All soil samples with anomalous high arsenic
and base metal values will be reanalyzed using ICP-MS by ALS
Chemex. Peak arsenic value is currently 1200 ppm. Grab samples show
a strong correlation between arsenic and gold. Consistent sampling
results have identified several arsenic anomaly areas.
- High arsenic values in the soil samples on several sample lines
expand the potential for a continuation of the gold mineralized
arsenic alteration from Main Zone. The new target zone is situated
in the northwestern corner of the greenstone belt. The strike of
the anomaly indicates that Main Zone is cut by a larger shear
zone.
- The extension of Main Zone in both northwestern and
southeastern direction is identified by several sample lines.
Arsenic values are enriched over a strike 4 km within a well
defined zone. This obviously defines the continuation of the gold
mineralized Main Zone.
- In the south eastern corner of the claim a third target zone is
identified. High arsenic values are here coincident with pyritized
graphite-bearing schist. In addition, the high arsenic assays from
the soil samples are located on the shoulders of a large EM
anomaly.
With this new significant anomaly picture, a potential
larger mineralized system can now be traced for more than 20
km.
